Content MaoCut handles
MaoCut handles photos, videos, audio, captions and editing projects you choose to import so you can preview, edit, save and export them. Projects, imported media, caches and preferences remain on your device; exported files are saved where you choose. MaoCut has no account system and does not automatically sync projects to a developer server.
System permissions
On iPhone and iPad, you can select media through the system photo picker. The app requests Photos or microphone access when needed to browse your library, save an exported video to Photos, or record a voiceover. The Mac version may request access to Photos, folders or the microphone. You can manage permissions in system settings.
Optional online services
Local editing, storage and export do not require uploading your project to a MaoCut server. If you choose online speech recognition, selected audio and any hotwords you enter are sent to the provider you configure, such as Tencent Cloud. On Mac, optional online voice and image features send the selected text, prompt or images to the configured provider, such as Volcengine or MiniMax. Authentication details are sent to the applicable provider; credentials you enter are stored in the device Keychain. The provider’s policy governs processing, fees, location and retention. Downloading an on-device recognition model connects to its source but does not upload your media to that source.
Other connections and feedback
When you open an external link or store page, or choose to send feedback, the relevant website, Apple, mail app and email provider process that request. The Mac About page may check the app’s store status with Apple. The website host may process connection logs when you visit these pages. You decide whether to send feedback and attachments; review them and remove private media or credentials you do not need to share.
Mac automation and diagnostics
External automation is off by default on Mac. If enabled, MaoCut writes current project state to a local Automation folder and reads local edit commands. Other programs that can access that folder may read it. The Mac app may keep limited local operation and error information during a session. A redacted diagnostic attachment is prepared only when you choose Feedback for your review; it is not automatically sent to the developer.
Retention, deletion and contact
Projects, imported media and caches are stored locally. Deleting a project, uninstalling the app, deleting exports and clearing Keychain credentials have different effects. Back up work you want to keep. Deleting local content does not automatically delete data already received by an online provider. For questions about this policy or your data, email [email protected].
